Hybrid Flooring

Hybrid flooring is a flooring solution that combines the beauty of timber, with the functionality of vinyl and incorporates the ease of installation of laminate. It’s the cumulation of years of research and development and it is fair to say the category has become very popular. Hybrid collectively delivers on many aspects of what makes a good floor. Hybrid flooring is waterproof, fairly durable and stable and can be installed over existing floors such as concrete, timber and even tiles in most circumstances. First and Second Generation Hybrid flooring is made predominantly from limestone in the form of calcium carbonate mixed with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and can be manufactured in different ways, such as the Second Generation Hybrid floors that are referred to as Solid Polymer Cores (SPC) or Expanded Polymer Cores (EPC) and with different layers (AB and ABA) to accomplish different outcomes. In 2023, with PVC starting to be a non-desirable in our lives, flooring manufacturers are also doing their best to improve sustainability and the latest Hybrid floors are made PVC FREE and include Durable Eco Composite (DEC) and Durable Waterproof Core (DWC). These are known as Third Generation Hybrid floors and they deliver far more stability in sunlight and are far superior in terms of scratch resistance over the older Second Generation Hybrid floors. Actually, there is no comparison at all.......as Third Generation Hybrid flooring uses Laminate Flooring technology to deliver far superior scratch ratings on the surface rather than the PVC surface of Gen 2 Hybrids. Hybrid flooring is easy to install and can be used in almost any area of the home.  Online, we feature selected products from our much larger range available in-store.
